What is the Flash Foxy Trailfest?
Flash Foxy Trailfest is a three-day event that will bring together and celebrate the growing community of women and genderqueer trail enthusiasts! We hope that the Flash Foxy Trailfest will not only reach veteran runners but also provide a safe space for beginner hikers and runners to come and learn!
When is the festival?
Unfortunately, the 2023 Flash Foxy Trailfest has been CANCELLED due to historic snowpack in the Eastern Sierras.
Where is the festival located?
The festival is located in Mammoth Lakes, California. Festival events will take place at the Whitmore Pool, Shady Rest Park and Cerro Coso Community College. All primary festival locations will be wheelchair accessible and will have accessible restrooms. These are the ancestral lands of the Numu, Eastern Mono and Western Mono peoples.
Do I have to be an experienced trail runner to attend the festival?
Not at all! We welcome women and genderqueer folks of all outdoor experience levels – including none. There will be several intro and beginner workshops. The festival will be a great opportunity to explore the mountains in a safe and supportive environment.
Are hikers welcome? I’m not running, but I love trail time.
Trailfest is for you too! Our Low-mileage Meetups will include options for hiking. There will be several workshops applicable to both hiking and running - stay tuned for more details as workshops are released!
Do I need to register to attend the festival?
Yes. Registration is required to attend the festival and the number of participants is limited. More registration information can be found here.
What is included in the cost of registration?
Entrance into all scheduled festival events is included. This includes workshops and select meals. Separate registration is required for workshops and attendance may be limited. Workshop registration links will be emailed to all participants at the end of May. Please see the Registration page for more detail.
What isn’t included in the cost of registration?
Transportation, lodging, Saturday lunch/dinner and Sunday lunch/dinner are not included in the cost of registration. Please check our Lodging and Services page for more information on lodging and transportation options.
Are there supported group runs or hikes? How will I find folks to get out with?

*2022 We will not be offering supported runs or hikes this year, however all participants will receive a custom Trialfest Trail Guide an we will be organizing ‘meet up zones’ each day to help you find new trail buddies! Volunteers and athletes are encouraged to go out for runs and hikes with festival participants!
Workshops I will start after breakfast and will include workshops geared for beginners, low-mileage athletes, and hikers. After workshops, we’ll have ‘meet up zones’ for varying trail lengths and you’ll have our Trailfest Trail Guide to show you the way. Mid to high-mileage runners will head to ‘meet up zones’ after breakfast then go out for morning runs. In the afternoon, we’ll invite folks to come back for Workshops II which will be geared towards mid to high-mileage and advanced athletes. Please note all group runs are self-guided. There will be no support from Flash Foxy at trailheads.
Do you need to be registered for the festival to sign up for a workshop?
Yes, workshops are only open to registered festival participants. There is no cost to register for a workshop. Separate registration is required for workshops and attendance may be limited. Workshop registration links will be emailed to all participants at the end of May.

Who can attend the festival?
Flash Foxy welcomes all women and genderqueer mountain athletes to join us at the Flash Foxy Trailfest. We use “genderqueer” as an umbrella term for all folks of non-dominant genders - including but not limited to non-binary, transgender, agender and gender non-conforming climbers. This means that people with various pronouns and gender presentations may be attending our festival including transgender men and/or folks whose gender presentations may appear more masculine. This is an all-ages event and young children are encouraged to attend with a guardian. If you are a guardian for a young person who wants to attend, please email us at lou@flashfoxy.com.
We encourage and invite folks with disabilities to attend Trailfest! All event venues will be wheelchair accessible and will have accessible bathrooms. All films will have captions in English. ASL interpreters can be coordinated upon request. Accessibility of trail meet ups varies. At least (1) meet up will be wheelchair accessible. Have an accessibility concern? Reach out to lou@flashfoxy.com and we’ll work together to make accommodations for you.
Our goal is to create and maintain a safe and diverse space where consent and respect are our first priorities. Harassment of any kind (unwanted contact, verbal or physical abuse, racism, homophobia, transphobia, body-shaming, etc.) will NOT be tolerated and will lead to being asked to leave.
What if I purchased a festival pass and no longer can attend?
Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee refunds. If tickets sell out and a waitlist forms, we will be able to facilitate a refund. Usually the closer we get to the festival, the harder it is for people to make accommodations with work and travel. June 2nd is the last day for refunds and June 9th is the last day to transfer your ticket. If you purchased a pass and are no longer able to attend, please email us at marian@flashfoxy.com.
How does the waitlist work?
People are taken off the waitlist in the order they were added to the waitlist. When someone alerts us that they can no longer attend, we send an email to someone on the waitlist and they will have 2 days to redeem the ticket.
Is this event rain or shine?
Yes, our event is rain or shine! Regardless of the weather, we will have a good time!
What’s your Covid-19 Plan?
All festival attendees must be fully vaccinated to attend the Flash Foxy Trailfest in Mammoth Lakes. To request a vaccine exemption please email marian@flashfoxy.com. Exemptions will only be granted for those with medical conditions preventing them from receiving a vaccine.
If you are unvaccinated and have purchased a ticket please email marian@flashfoxy.com and we will do our best to accommodate a refund. Please refer to our refund policy (above) for more details.
Face masks may be required at indoor events. Disposable face masks will be available on site.
If changes in your personal circumstances related to Covid-19 affect your comfort levels with attending the festival you may be eligible for a refund or able to transfer your ticket. Please refer to our refund policy (above) for more details.
If you have a positive Covid-19 test or contact with someone with a confirmed or suspected case of Covid-19 within two weeks of the festival we ask that you do not attend. Please inform us immediately and we will do our best to facilitate a ticket transfer. We cannot guarantee refunds.
If we have to cancel the Flash Foxy Trailfest in Mammoth Lakes due to rising Covid-19 cases or other national emergency ticket holders will have the following refund options:
50% Refund (standard policy if no action taken by ticket holder)
100% Refund (by email request to marian@flashfoxy.com)
Donate full ticket price to Flash Foxy
We ask ticket holders who have the financial ability to keep in mind that the majority of our festival expenses are fixed and non-refundable (employee salaries, insurance, perishable goods, deposits, etc). We greatly appreciate our community and your on-going support as we navigate this ever-changing situation.
